Introduction
Why are there no transportable HiFi-Speakers?
With this project, I wanted to create a speaker that combines user-friendly operability, portability and high overall quality. I made use of several approaches and ended up with a tower that produces 360° sound, has a battery life of 12 hours at 120 dB, and is on par with the quality of a recording studio.

Construction
Why is it build, the wait it's build?

When designing a speaker, the laws of physics are always the starting point. The lower the frequency, the larger the wave. This in turn means that you need to provide a certain volume in order to be able to produce very low tones. But of course, there are always a few tricks you can use:
For example, with a compound system. This design uses two subwoofers connected in opposite polarity, which are installed in such a way that they reinforce each other and thus halve the required volume. In addition, impedance deviations are compensated and the system as a whole becomes more precise.
The clear sound is also enhanced by a design that has no parallels. This prevents standing waves from forming, which can lead from destortion to destructive behavior through superposition [the amplification of a frequency through interference].
To create true 360° dispersion, I chose a full-range driver for every frequency above 150 Hz - supplemented by a reflector cone. This allows an incredibly homogeneous wave propagation to be generated using a single driver.
All of this must also be supplied with energy - efficiently. Consequently, I used parts from the automotive sector, like a lithium-ion battery and a car amplifier.
Design
And why does it look, the way it looks?
Since physical laws form the basis, the design is merely a logical continuation. Combined with my personal design signature, characterized by minimalist forms and intuitive use, the result is an object defined by clear lines and a triad.
Three legs, so that the object cannot wobble. Three parts, which not only make it modular but also transportable, and which are logically separated; by the three speakers. Three letters - O.S.T. - Omnidirectional. Speaker. Tower. Every Detail conveys stability and precision.

Sound
And why does it look, the way it looks?
The overarching goal of this project was to combine portability with high-fidelity sound. In addition to high-quality components and the aforementioned construction-based techniques, it was also necessary to coordinate the components with each other and, last but not least, to harmonize them via the amplifier's software.
As you can see in the following (unembellished) frequency responses (20 Hz - 20 kHz), the reflector not only produces a more homogeneous spectrum, but also boosts the higher frequencies in particular.
