The 3 pillars.
Science based.
Each of my concepts is based on current scientific findings. I always attempt to create symbioses that are justifiable and deliver added value. The necessary knowledge for that is always prepared with the help of in-depth practical and theoretical analysis. Every detail has to be understood, so that it can not only be implemented in a meaningful way, but also communicated efficiently. Innovation and comprehensibility are always formative influences...
Nature Inspired.
...which also help in understanding nature. Its evolutionary development has produced systems which offer incredibly great potential. Seeing nature as a universal inspiration [biomimicry] and applying these principles to our society, goes hand in hand with a significant increase in diversity, specificity and with that, efficiency. The world becomes more colorful and more fair.
Integrated Design.
However, to make all of this accessible for everyone, an aesthetically appealing layer is required. It has to generates fascination and encourage discussion. My design is reduced in its appearence, but complex in its meaning; abstract, but natural. Each work opens doors into different thematic worlds. And due to my interdisciplinary training, I am not bound to certain 'rules' or departments. I can decide what makes sense depending on the very concept. The problem to be solved dictates the path, not the other way around.
Further influences.
Communication
Another fundamental aspect is communication - whether it be exchanges with experts, producers, or customers. Genuine interest can only develop if underlying values and messages are clearly communicated. This creates intrinsic motivation through identification. And with that, an energetic atmosphere characterized by active participation.
Biomimicry
The biggest, most prominent principle in my work - and life really - is Biomimicry. This view of the world allows to take inspiration from literally anything: a color-combination from an animals fur, the pattern of a plants flower, or the feel a lush forest in summer can give you. After all, it teaches one thing, more then everything else:

As the highest level of schooling in Germany, the Gymnasium is designed to prepare for an academic career; students can choose their own areas of focus. In my case, this was primarily math, science and art (supplemented by languages and geography), allowing for a lot of potential degrees.

B.A. Design in a Digital Society
From an idea to an usefull application.
With its reformation in 2014, the degree shifted from a analogue, product-focussed direction, into a more current approach. The foundation continued to be based on traditional topics such as design-theory, model making, photography and production. But added to that were digital tools like CAD, animation, simulation and programming, which help to work more diversely and efficiently. As a result, I got all the tools I need to fully implement an idea - from research, to ideation and prototyping, to documentation and communication. But most importantly: I learned how to become aware of problems.

Early on in my studies, I had the opportunity to work with Lübnitz. As a supplier to Volkswagen, the company specializes in the production of leather and metal parts, as well as the restoration of classic cars. As a designer, I was asked to develop a storage system that could manage their sensitive car parts smoothly and safely. The project was incredibly exciting and challenging, as it required all the skills I had learned so far (as well as those I had yet to learn).

Work with professionals.
My time in Cologne was primarily characterized by glimpses behind the scenes of a medium-sized, globally renowned agency. My tasks ranged from CAD development and illustrative FA [Final Artwork] for web and print, to analog model and exhibition construction, to attending feedback sessions with major clients. The atmosphere was intense but instructive and helped me hone my own tendencies and skills.

My first pat on the back.
As part of a graphic design course, I had the opportunity to participate in a nationwide, annual poster competition. Under the theme “My Studies, my family and me” I was able to submit three designs - one of which made it to the finals. The subsequent invitation to the awards ceremony in Berlin, as well as the opportunity to interact with the other finalists, was very exciting and educational.

M.A. Integrated Design
Understanding the bigger picture.
When I decided to pursue a master's degree, I had three goals: 1) To deepen my knowledge in areas that I felt were neglected in my bachelor's degree, 2) to find my own specialization and 3) simply gather as many (especially practical) impressions as I could. Fortunately, the program was designed exactly that way; the students came from every conceivable creative discipline and were able to support each other. This way, I deepened my expertise regarding scientific work, color and lighting, design theory, material design, AI, and entrepreneurship. Most importantly, I also found my focus - sustainability and biomimicry.

Academic vs. economic path.
My university offered a program designed to help students transition from their studies to self-employment. By the end of mine, I felt that I had mastered most of what I consider essential for holistic design. Accordingly, I wanted to bring my ideas and concepts together - under my own brand. The program focused on developing said brand, creating marketable services and products, and understanding bureaucratic hurdles and prepercautions. Additionally, I was able to draw on insights and contacts from business experts that remain relevant to me to this day.

In-Organic Exhibition
My first exhibition!
After my graduation, the artist and former student Verónica Lossantos approached me. She had a small exhibition with me and two other alumni in mind, that should take place within the 'Berlin Design Week'. Topic was the interplay between organic and inorganic materials. Particularly interesting and educational was not only the interaction with visitors, but also the organization, execution, and supervision of said exhibition.
